Dear HERALD 5 Member,
Attached please find:
Please print all of them AND this cover letter out, complete them, and return them to the SAFE address above by August 15. Please be reminded that your 180-day card for this past school year is due by July 15, 2008. If we do not receive your 180-day card by this date, we will be UNABLE to process your 2008-2009 SAFE application.
If you are newly applying to SAFE in HERALD 5 and do not yet have an HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association) membership, you will need to go to their web site at: http://www.hslda.org to apply for membership. The application fee will be $95.00 rather than $115.00 if you give them the SAFE Group Number #299586. Please do not share this number with anyone else as it only applies to members of SAFE. If you are a returning SAFE member or already have an HSLDA membership, but need to renew your card throughout the year, you may also use the SAFE Group Number to do so.
Returning SAFE members: Be sure that your HSLDA membership is up to date. If it is going to expire in the next few weeks, go ahead and re-apply now. If you have already re-applied, but have not yet received your new card, copy the OLD card now and return it with your application along with a note saying you have re-applied. Send a copy of the NEW card as SOON as it arrives. If your HSLDA membership is not up to date, we will be UNABLE to process your new SAFE in H5 application.
Please REMEMBER that 90-day-cards, 180-day-cards, active membership in HERALD 5 and keeping up with your HSLDA membership (i.e. not letting it expire any time during this school year) is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. If at any time, SAFE must send you a letter regarding delinquent paperwork, you will have 10 DAYS to submit the required item. If the item is not returned within the 10 days, your SAFE membership may be revoked.
The 90 and 180-Day Cards will be sent via e-mail approximately two weeks before their required return date. The 90-day-card will need to be returned by 2-15-09; the 180-day-card by 7-15-09. Mark these dates as well as the expiration of your HSLDA card on your calendar now and don’t forget to send all required material on time.
Finally, if you have a graduating senior please fill out the following for the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship.
